Chinese New Year Twilight Parade

I arrive just as the parade starts but quickly realise the best view now is not to be had from the main route but via Pitt and Castlereagh Streets. It's where people and their floats are parked and await their turn for the downhill march from the Town Hall to Chinatown. Alas most of the participants are too far from the barricades for conversation.

I hear a high pitched note in the vicinity of Special Constable Kym Till and ask how things are going. "Good now I've popped that C," he chortles. Kym is based in Stanmore and is with the New South Wales Police Band. He's a composer in his spare time and has completed three movements of his first symphony. He needs a fourth which he plans to compose once he's retired. I'm seriously impressed.

It's chaos in George Street. People have obviously been minding the best vantage points for hours. The fireworks are being let off full tilt as I leave the main thoroughfare and head home.

Wishing you all a happy new year of the snake!!
